Overview:
Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge is a
delightful owner-run lodge nestled in the grounds of the beautiful and secluded
Chuini Palace Ruins, offering guests a most charming and unique stay on the
west coast.
'Hakuna Matata' in Swahili means
'no worries' and unsurprisingly, the lodge has an ethos to match. As soon as
you arrive you are greeted by the owners Rose and Fritz with a welcome smile
and a cool refreshing drink, before being given a brief introduction to the
area and shown to your bungalow.
The lodge is comprised of just 13
comfortable bungalows in various categories and one villa, all with spectacular
views of the Indian Ocean. There is a small spa and a 3 tiered swimming pool
that is a renovation of the old sultan's palace bath and aquaduct system. In
the distance out to sea, you can see Chapwani Island and Changuu Island, which
used to be a prison but is now home to a giant tortoise conservation project
and well worth a visit.
