Overview:
Zanzibar Palace has nine individually styled rooms and
suites. Set over four floors, the rooms vary from standard sized guest rooms
leading up to the fabulous roof top Dunai Suite with its open air bathroom and
private sundeck. Dutch owned and run, this lovingly restored property has been
a leading boutique in the heart of the old town for many years now.
The ground floor restaurant offers both fantastic food and
an ambiance that brings local history alive through the mix of Arabic, Indian
and colonial furnishings. The Belgian chef fuses European and Zanzibari
techniques and ingredients to offer diners sophisticated plates of delicious
food no matter what the time of day is. A luxury spa softens post safari or
flight muscles and will polish you to perfection with a range of body scrubs
and nail treatments. You could happily lose yourself here for days so take care
to remind yourself that there’s so much more to see in Zanzibar!
Room Descriptions & Facilities
ROOM AND SUITES
There are two standard rooms named Nadia and Rosewood, five
suites named Kijani, Sultana, Shaba, Farizah and Arabica and two Palace suites
named Sherali and Dunia.
For those who find stairs a difficulty, we would recommend
one of the following first floor rooms; Nadia, Kijani or Farizah. Each room at
Zanzibar Palace features air conditioning, high-pressure hot water, ceiling
fans, spring box mattresses, mosquito nets, in-house telephone, digital safe,
cable network TV, DVD player, bathrobes and hairdryer on request.
The suites are larger in size each with their own special
features: Kijani is a three room suite with green décor; Sultana is a romantic
open plan suite with a huge balcony; Shaba has a brass bed and copper coloured
ornaments in the same footprint as Kijani with three rooms to the suite;
Farizah is a huge open plan suite with an expansive balcony; and Arabica is
Arabian in design with a small balcony on the third floor.
The Palace Suites have the wow-factor with the Sherali suite
a Victorian inspired space, framed by colonial wooden panelled walls. These
walls are in fact shutters and can be opened to let in the light, sounds and
aromas of the stone town streets below.
The Dunia Suite is characterized by dark woods and gold,
though the roof top open air bathroom accessed by a small staircase is the
crowning glory. The high sultans four poster bed requires stools to reach the
soft silks that encase you as you sleep like royalty. The open air bathroom and
sundeck put you at the top of the Zanzibar Palace with breath taking panoramic
city and ocean views . This is a lovely, but ultimately quirky suite.
Honeymooners and romantics looking for that uniqueness and quintessential old
world charm should take up residence at this Palace!

Community & Conservation
Whether maintaining their building or developing the skills
of their staff, Zanzibar Palace’s care and attention to detail are first class.
The team at Zanzibar Palace, though European in management and at the helm of
the kitchen, are proud Zanzibari’s. They have worked together to create this
luxurious yet informal gem. The kitchens are full of fresh local produce
sourced from the island’s fishermen and farming families. Local guides and
drivers - and the community at large - benefit from the guests’ enjoyment of
Stone Town and the island beyond.
