Chapwani is a real treat for those in seek of simplicity and warm
hospitality in a unqiue, intimate and picturesque setting. Just ten
semi-detached, cosy, sea view rooms, one villa and a good sized swimming pool
make up the lodge, which is the only property on the 5 hectare Island. Chapwani
Island offers the perfect retreat from our often hectic modern-day lifestyles;
There are no TVs or telephones, just the sound of the birds and the sea.
Chapwani is an incredibly peaceful lodge comprised of one villa and just
ten sea view rooms set in five individual sea front bandas on a small private
island just west of Stone Town. There is a strong focus on ecology and sustainability
at the lodge. The swimming pool is filled with salt water so as to not disturb
the ecosystem and all vegetables are grown organically in the hotel gardens.
Fresh seafood is sourced locally from the sea and eggs from the chickens reared
at the lodge. Massages are available on the beach at sunrise and sunset when
there is the most electromagnetic energy from the sun. Snorkeling equipment
and kayaks are available for exploring the crystal clear water that surround
the island.
Room Description:
Each sea front room is semi-detached and en-suite with king size bed,
ceiling fan, mosquito net and a terrace with canopy bed overlooking the beach.
The lodge's flagship sunset 2 bedroom villa offers a larger space and includes
two decks, two bathrooms, a balcony off the main bedroom and a small private
pool.

Nature and Conservation:
Chapwani is committed to looking after the delicate island eco system
where it is based. Hot water is provided through a photovoltaic system charged
with solar panels found on the roofs of every room. The swimming pool is not
chemically treated and is made of salt water. The island is home to some
amazing wildlife including eagles, white herons, dik diks (tiny antelope) and a
very rare protected species of giant crab. There are areas of rich vegetation,
a wide variety of fauna and flora and a beautiful inland lake.
