Seasons lodge is a family built, and family run, hotel,
opened in 2011 by the Clarkes, an Irish-Ugandan family, based in Zanzibar,
Uganda and Ireland.
It is situated in Pongwe on the east coast of Zanzibar. It
is just under one hour’s drive from the airport and from Stonetown – on a
tarmac road.
Much of the mortar we used to piece it all together is a
kind of limestone (or ‘chokaa’ in Kiswahili), a local material, and a more
eco-friendly option than cement.
Everything has been made by hand on site using our own team;
we have employed, and trained, local workmen and craftsmen, thus investing in
the local community and the local economy.
As much as possible, we also source our food locally, and we
grow a range of food on site – as well as rearing chickens, goats, ducks and
turkeys.
At Seasons we want to provide a place for you to stay that
has a low carbon footprint, while at the same time ensuring quality of service
and excellent accommodation – responsible tourism.
