Overview

Exotic and mystical, this hotel is evocative of the centuries of sultans, traders, adventurers and explorers who came to these magical isles of Zanzibar leaving a cultural and architectural fusion, which echoes its proud history of Persian, Arabian, Indian, Colonial and African influences. Wandering through the ancient corridors, your thoughts will drift towards a past splendour and the secret memories of a lost era that this old palace so jealously preserves.

Accommodation:

The 18 no smoking rooms are all unique. The ground floor looks into the courtyard with high ceilings, either a balcony, sea view, a living area or mezzanine floor and are enclosed in this original ancient palace and demonstrate the essence of old Zanzibar with a twist of modern chic.
All rooms include breakfast until 11 a.m. and are equipped with air conditioning, mosquito net, spring box mattress, baby crib, hair dryer, internal phone, mini fridge, laptop safe, flat screen TV, free wi-fi wireless internet access, anti-panic door lock and complimentary tea and coffee facilities.
An "al fresco" lunch or "starlight" dinner is available on request, as is laundry service, extra bed and babysitting service.
The three general room categories that result from the imaginative use of the space are named after the three original areas of the old Stone Town nearby the palace, which are accessible from the hotel by foot along the narrow winding streets - Forodani: the seafront, Shangani: the residential area, and Darajani: the market and bazaars.
·         5 Darajani rooms are between 20-30 sqm meters with typical Zanzibar features and details.
·         7 Shangani rooms are more spacious, between 30-45 sqm, and have either a small suite area or a courtyard balcony.
·         6 Forodhani rooms have further features such as sea views, mezzanine design, terraces or spectacular high ceilings.
